Context
One Data is a German company that builds data products. They had a WordPress-based website that had become very hard to manage due to overuse of plugins and bad content model design that had too many blocks.
They wanted to explore better and simpler options for content management, while creating landing pages for Search Engine Advertisement (SEA) as a first use case.
Solution
Following meetings with the client, I decided to create an MVP that builds landing pages for Search Engine Advertisement (SEA) via Contentful + Next.js.
I fully developed the MVP and onboarded the client’s marketing team to Contentful. I built modular blocks to create new landing pages in both English and German with heroes, columns, rich text, and HubSpot form integration.
I designed the content models, wrote GraphQL queries to fetch the data, and implemented React components to render them.
I also created the CI/CD workflows on GitHub to automatically deploy changes on Vercel.
Reflections
A large portion of the project was to understand the customer’s needs, and help them to solve their problems via easy-to-use solutions, while helping them to shift out of the WordPress mindset. This required me to communicate highly technical problems in plain ways. I also learned the latest Next.js 13 on the job, while self-managing all of my work.
