Itsapark (H&M): E-commerce Refactor

Self EmployedBerlin, Germany (Remote)

Refactored the entire codebase of H&M's sustainable fashion e-commerce platform into reusable, maintainable components

Context

Itsapark was an online sustainable fashion e-commerce platform, an H&M initiative.

Sadly, the codebase that was written by an external agency was too complex, highly buggy, and very difficult to read and maintain. Therefore, it required a full refactor.

I worked with them as a freelance frontend developer joining a cross-functional Scrum team of 7 people.

Solution

I refactored the code to create reusable, readable and maintainable components.

I also implemented new designs, integrated with Contentful, created a private member section, and wrote unit, integration, and E2E tests.

Reflections

I self-learned Next.js, Contentful, and Cypress while working on this project, and am proud that I was able to start working on tickets and deliver results within days.
