Context
Frontrow Entertainment is a major event production company with experience of over 20 years.
They were organizing a huge boxing streaming event with millions of expected visitors. Thus, they formed an Agile team of 11 people to quickly build a website for selling tickets and allowing members to log in and view the fight.
Solution
My role was to lead frontend development, first building a quick Gatsby MVP to kickstart ticket sales, and then expanding it with a members-only area and content management via GraphCMS.
During my time in the team, I made decisions about the frontend architecture and stack, set coding standards, and helped other developers with frontend issues and code reviews.
I also guided the designer about current website best practices, provided UX feedback to the customer, and coordinated with the tech lead to improve the Scrum development process.
Although the fight was delayed, we were able to deliver the website on time in preparation for selling tickets.
Reflections
This was a fast-paced project with a lot of agility, where requirements often changed while we had to adjust.
Realizing the designer did not have experience designing for the web, I took some time aside to meet him and give some guidance about web design best practices.
