Sevendos: Website Launch

WunderdogBerlin, Germany (Hybrid)

Implemented designs and modernized the codebase of the Sevendos WordPress website ahead of launch

Context

Sevendos is an ecosystem of companies, including my ex-employer Wunderdog.

The company website was about to be launched and required some fast additional work.

Thus, I joined as a full-stack WordPress developer to help the efforts.

Solution

My main role was to implement designs and fix bugs. While doing so, I made major refactors of the code, such as fixing linting issues, converting CSS to SASS, which simplified the code, and removing jQuery to decrease the bundle size and increase performance.

I also supported the marketing team with guidance about WordPress, helped to manage the ticket backlog, and provided UX feedback.

The company website was launched on time and I helped to speed up delivery thanks to the higher code quality.

Reflections

This project allowed me to take a lot of initiative so that we could release the best site possible while meeting deadlines.

I was also happy to share my WordPress knowledge with both developers and marketing. I learned about hosting the website on WordPress.com and the latest best practices.
